Spoken word is really really hard to do well. I don't expect anybody to be amazing.

It's not easy to write and perform without sounding forced and affected, which usually happens because you’re concerned with coming off monotone.

I tried writing and recording spoken word and it kept turning into some cringy "to be or not to be" pseudo-Shakespearean type garbage

Lmao that's hilarious I'd do spoken word as satire but low key want it to be taken serious.

I riffed a good amount of my set referencing the room but had alot of ideas prewritten cause like you said I wanted to come off natural and not monotone. I didnt practice at all so I fucked up the wording on a few jokes and forgot to say some better ones cause i was so disorganized with my notes. Also repeated and other annoying crutches.

My nervous yet confident energy and borderline panic attack worked for me though i think. What a rush.

I'm going to try and get bood off stage by the lovely people in vancouver next week .
