in terms of the form, not the the content.
They weren't something I came in contact with a ton, more something that was often referenced on tv.
But I would see them now and then at a book store or news stand and maybe thumb thru it quick.
But I could never understand why someone would then buy it.
Its like 20 seconds of entertainment.
Each comic seemed to contain about 2 paragraphs worth of text, half of which was just WHOOSH! POW! THWAP!!!!
That shit made me feel like I was consuming content built for retards. An incredibly thin book of pretty pictures and BOOM! BAM! ZAP!!!
Im sure the original appeal was based on being subscribed and getting them in the mail but I'd need to let like 50 pile up at a time before it seemed like something I can dig into, pause.
Graphic novels make a lot more sense.
Read one called The Surrogates in college. It wasn't half bad. They made a movie with Bruce Willis eventually. It was an ok b movie. imo
I never understood the appeal of comic books
Re: I never understood the appeal of comic books
you know
after rewatching the trailer
i feel the novel and film have probably aged even better than I gave them credit for
