I wanted the family to play Mario Party or something all together. Boys were being unruly. Technology wasn’t cooperating. I got frustrated and walked away to cool off.
Came back and the boys were playing Minecraft together having a great time. Hey, good enough.
Went to my room to burn one and relax. Phone rings. My brother’s name pops up. I’ve been expecting to get a call that he is dead now for weeks.
Nope. Still clinging to life. My mom’s nursing home had just called letting him know mom took yet another fall and was taken to the hospital.
Poor thing broke the fuck out of her nose.
She taught me about Jesus. She was a true single mother working 2 or 3 jobs at a time. She still tithed. Unfortunately usually sending it to grifting tv preachers. Lost her house in the bullshit planned bailout fiasco of 2009 and figured it was her own fault. Cared for…. Literally bathed and housed her retarded sister until her death. Took in injured critters constantly.
Before mostly losing the capacity of speech to the literal brain rot she’d often think I was my dad and act either flirtatious or frightened of me. He used to beat her up. Indescribable to look into your own elderly mother eyes and see either of those emotions .
Do I still believe in Christ tho?
Yes Nohbody
Christ is King

Re: Last night
You should watch The Sopranos
It’s not church, but it has good visuals about dealing with the realities of middle aged life
Sometimes it’s helpful to separate yourself from the feelings, and look at shit like “of course this is going to happen”
It might not be for everyone but I think it works.
Things are going to happen, but can’t dwell on those details in particular otherwise functioning becomes difficult and it affects the people who rely on you.
